Fence Construction and Installation in Bismarck

Project: They Had Big Dogs, Hence the Wood Fence

6’ wood privacy fence keeps dogs in their place and free to roam

I need to offer canines a big “thank you” for a certain percentage of my business. If you were to look at a Venn diagram of customers that are both homeowners and dog owners, the cross section would reveal a lot about the extent of my fence projects.

The gallery below shows the results of a wood fence project completed for a young couple with two large, energetic dogs. They had purchased most of the material for the 6’ privacy fence at a local Menard’s and initially planned to install it themselves. Upon further review, they decided to put it out for bids and Handyman Kota was selected.

I’ve found a pull-behind auger works well when post-hole digging falls to one person; namely me. Getting the posts plumb and set is the most critical part of a wood fence project. One hiccup in the process was a large maple near the fence line, which required a few hours of subtle persuasion to make way for a couple of posts. Once that was done, constructing the 160’ fence with two gates went fairly smoothly and the dogs had their backyard play area to do their stuff.

Bismarck Fence Requirements

The current City of Bismarck building code states that fences under 8.5 feet high do not require a building permit. Homeowners considering installing a fence will still need to confirm property line setback requirements.
